All of my money and gratitude to businesses that provide vacant/occupied notices on bathroom doors. It is an A+++ customer experience that seems to be on the rise. I’ve yet to see an accessible version, though.

@rachelcherry Seems like the airplane model would be the most user-friendly and accessible. If the door is locked, there's a sign that says it's occupied, and you can't open the door; it the door is unlocked, there's a sign that says it's vacant, and you'll be able to open the door. Tactile and visual feedback together for everyone, and it's automatic, so no one can forget to change the sign (unless, of course, they forget to lock the door).
